n December 1898, the Paratsky Metallurgical Plant was established on the banks of the Volga River. During WWI, the facilities of the Izhorsky Military Plant for the production of artillery shell cases were transferred thereto. In 1931, the Sergo Plant switched to the production of ammunition for aircraft and air defense guns. The efforts of specialists and personnel during WWII terminated in the series production of these ammunition items. Every third round for small caliber artillery used at the front was manufactured at the Sergo Plant. For this feat of labor the enterprise was awarded two orders.

With the advent of jet-propelled aviation and space materiel, the plant has assimilated the production of more than 20 types of squibs, including ejection squibs.
From the mid-1980s, the Sergo Plant Production Association, as it is called now (Russian acronym POZIS), specializes in the manufacture of new modernized 23, 30 and 40mm ammunition for the following artillery systems:
— 23 and 30mm GSh-23,
— GSh-6-23, GSh-30, GSh-301 and GSh-6-30 aircraft guns;
— 23 and 30mm 2A-7, 2A-14 and 2A-38 air defense automatic guns;
— 30mm 2A-42 and 2A-72 guns;
— 30mm AO-18 naval automatic guns;
— 40mm rounds with fragmentation grenades for the GP-25 underbarrel grenade launcher for the Kalashnikov assault rifle;
— 27.5, 37.5 and 51mm squibs for all types of Russian aircraft ejection seats.
At present, engineers, technicians and production personnel of the enterprise continuously improve the existing technologies and automation of the production process. Thus, to increase the production scope and improve the quality of ammunition, the POZIS equipment design bureau has designed and introduced high-capacity rotor machining and assembly lines manufactured at the enterprise.

| Main POZIS products: 23, 30 and 40mm rounds, ejection squibs and hunting cartridges |
Considerable changes have been made in the technology of manufacturing projectile bodies and cases with the use of new form-shaping operations.
The use of new types of primers, fuzes, propelling charges and explosives increased the ammunition trouble-free functioning probability to 0.9999 at an operating temperature range of
-60 to +80 oC. This factor is of no small importance taking into account the fact that POZIS-
produced ammunition items were supplied during five past years to more than 30 countries. All customer requests are duly considered for export deliveries. The supply of hermetically sealed belted ammunition on transport pallets developed by the special POZIS design bureau serves as example.
Specialists of the enterprise have tremendous experience in the production and modernization of the aforementioned ammunition in a number of foreign countries under Russian license.
At different times, POZIS successfully implemented several promising conversion projects.
A nonferrous metals, steel and pig iron casting facility, machine-building and machine tool plants, design and process bureaus, and the enterprise’s laboratory complex ensured the manufacture of new types of products. In particular, mass production of hunting and sporting cartridges was organized within the shortest time. The use of composite powders developed specially for POZIS ensured the high quality of these products.
In connection with growing requirements for transportation of frozen and perishable goods, in 1997 the enterprise began production of isothermic and refrigerator-type bodies made of polymeric materials for trucks with load capacities of 1.5, 3 and 8 t.
The so-called «white» domestic equipment produced by POZIS is generally recognized. Of late, more than 10 models of easily operated refrigerators and freezers of improved design, various dimensions and volumes were developed and put into production. The plant’s assembly lines are rated for annual production of 200,000 refrigerators and freezers.
POZIS has a facility for manufacturing articles made of glass-fiber-reinforced plastic, from jeep bodies to office furniture elements.
Within the framework of an intergovernmental agreement between Tatarstan and the Czech Republic, the enterprise began assembly of several models of the Karosa bus intended for intra-city, inter-city and tourist trips. This program is rated for annual production of 500 buses. The Karosa bus boasts high reliability, efficiency and increased comfort and is adapted to the road conditions of Russia and the CIS.
The fortunate geographical position of POZIS in the center of European Russia, with the developed transport network, makes it an advantageous and attractive partner.
